WELCOME

Village Point is a recently built lodge set in twenty hectares of beautiful bush land on the shores of Lake Kariba, Zambia. This secluded lodge is found on a peninsular within Lotri bay, some 40 km by road and 25 km by Lake from Siavonga town. The Lodge is a 3½ hour scenic drive from Lusaka or a 30 minute boat transfer from Siavonga (a 2½ hour drive from Lusaka on good tar roads).

Your hosts Jamie and Vanessa Hope have designed and built the lodge with eco-tourism in mind and hope to share with you a unique experience of rural life in Zambia, while at the same time providing comfort and genuine Zambian hospitality.

Village Point is off the beaten track and its idyllic setting provides a "prefect hideaway" from city life.

On arrival, you will receive a friendly welcome and shown to the boma and bar where you can enjoy a few drinks while taking in the breathtaking vistas of the bay. The wide variety of birdlife is impressive and the resident pod of hippos will entertain you with their raucous sounds.

The Lodge consists of four tastefully appointed double story thatched chalets with a lounge area and bedroom on the upper floor. The upper floor of the chalets is open fronted and beds are provided with walk in type mosquito nets. Each chalet is situated on the Lake Shore providing front row seats to the magnificent views of the surrounding landscape. Sit in awe at the spectacular sunsets, sunrises and moon-rises across the bay. All chalets have en-suite bathrooms with toilet and shower. One chalet also has an exclusive and private open air bath-tub strategically situated to enjoy a romantic sunset venue.

In addition to the chalets, the Lodge offers alternative accommodation for the more budget minded clients. Mango Grove, built in the style of a traditional Zambian village, provides comfortable yet unique accommodation offering the ultimate "bush experience". Camping facilities are also available and tents can be hired from the Lodge.

The variety of accommodation offered provides flexibility and choice. The Lodge has been designed so that whatever your choice of accommodation, you can enjoy exclusivity and privacy.

Activities, which are conducted at a "sedate pace", include bush walks, sunset cruises on the Lake , fishing for tiger and bream, and cultural village tours. The location is a photographer's paradise with stunning scenery, Lake views, birdlife, hippos, crocs and village life.

The highlight of a visit to Village Point is the village tour. The local Headman Mr Manchisi welcomes visitors to his humble home where you can experience traditional village life and see the workings of a typical Tonga Village.

Back at the Lodge, you can enjoy a "five star" fire-side evening meal served in the open-air restaurant under a glittering African night sky accompanied by the local village dance troop and traditional band.

Jamie and Vanessa welcome you to Village Point and intend to spoil you with great hospitality and above all comfortable accommodation, good food and a touch of the: "Real Africa"
